Get ready to embark on a fun filled art journey at Animal Art Adventure this summer! We will investigate the captivating world of Wisconsin’s animal life through painting, drawing, collage, and 3D media. Drawing inspiration from the animals that surround us — whether it’s our own family pets, the charm of farm animals or the serene beauty of rural Wisconsin — we’ll creat art that celebrates our furry and feathered friends. As we unleash our creativity, we’ll also glean valuable lesson form the animals that share our environment. Plus, with Fridays off for family adventures exploring Wisconsin’s lakeshores and forests, the fun continues beyond the studio! Use your weekend to gather more ideas and come back for week two with more inspirations. Secure your spot now for an enriching and exciting summer at the Animal Art Adventure!
The class will be tailored to the individual student and their abilities.
Basic art supplies are included in the course fee.
*Students are asked to bring a few school appropriate magazines, collections of papers, labels, scraps and/or ephemera to be used for cutting to create collages. The studio will also have some of these materials available

ARTIST STATEMENT: RACHEL CATLETT
I am a visual artist and a farmer living on a Wisconsin sheep farm. I make paintings about relationship between the farm and the farmer, the land, and our connection to it. I am motivated by what it means to be a steward. Stewardship of the environment is central to regenerative farming practices. My images are centered on this story. I am most passionate about the work of farmers and ranchers. Farmers steward their land through their physical work. Through their labor, they connect intimately with the land, their animals, and the environment. Their work is inherently good. It is important. It is beautiful. I am infatuated by the sensual quality of oil paint and capturing gesture in brushstrokes. I love the physicality, immediacy, and fluidity of marks for the sake of marks. My aim is to make paintings that create tension and balance between marks that describe and marks that celebrate themselves. I work from life, from notes and photographs and from memories. For me, paintings are visual narratives. I am interested in how we keep our personal histories, how we remember, and how we carry each other both forward and backward, in our stories, from the past and into the future.
