ARTIST STATEMENT

I practice Optometry by day but have been an art lover and artist my entire life. In my mind the two pursuits go hand in hand. Helping to improve people’s vision expands their awareness of the beauty and art around them.

Growing up in Delavan near my grandmother, May, who was an accomplished artist, I learned at an early age how art can enhance a busy life and the importance of taking time for creativity.

In College I studied pre-med. I knew I would need a break from science classes and was determined to maintain my passion for art. Practicing medicine was my primary goal, so I decided to pursue a double major.

After completing my a Bachelor of Science degree and earning my Doctorate in Optometry I focused on establishing my career. It wasn’t long before I jumped back into art by expanding my creative skills at a nearby college. I instantly became excited about the medium of Watercolor.

Since then I have enjoyed many workshops, online and studio classes to develop my skill. I am now ready to share my love for painting and hope to inspire you to make time in your life for creative self-expression!
